How to use CPLGrid for this paper

Learn. Practise. Test.

01

Learn

Use the current syllabus and your study material to understand the concept before relying on question practice.

02

Practise

Work through CPLGrid questions in focused sessions and save difficult questions for later revision.

03

Test

Use timed mock tests to check recall, speed and accuracy under exam-style conditions.

Study guide

Study Meteorology as connected processes

Exam questions often test how one atmospheric variable affects another. Learn the process first, then connect it to clouds, visibility, wind, weather reports and operational hazards.

Atmosphere, pressure and temperature

Revise pressure variation with height, standard-atmosphere relationships, temperature lapse rates, density and the effect of temperature and pressure on aircraft performance.

Stability, clouds and precipitation

Connect parcel temperature with the environment to determine stability. Then relate lifting mechanisms and condensation to cloud types, precipitation and turbulence.

Wind and weather systems

Study pressure-gradient, Coriolis and friction effects, along with fronts, depressions, anticyclones, local winds and the weather associated with each system.

Reports and hazards

Practise decoding METAR and TAF groups and revising visibility, fog, icing, thunderstorms, wind shear and turbulence. Always check the applicable reporting conventions.

Example concept check

What happens to relative humidity if the amount of water vapour stays constant while air temperature falls?

Answer: Relative humidity generally increases.

Cooling reduces the saturation vapour pressure. With actual water-vapour content unchanged, the air moves closer to saturation and may reach the dew point, allowing condensation to form.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about this subject

What topics should I study for Aviation Meteorology?+

Study the current DGCA syllabus and build a strong base in atmospheric processes, pressure and temperature, clouds, weather systems, winds, visibility, hazards and aviation weather reports.

How can I improve my Meteorology score?+

Use short, repeated practice sessions rather than only reading notes. Track incorrect questions, revise the related concept and then attempt similar questions again.

Does CPLGrid have Meteorology practice?+

Yes. CPLGrid has a dedicated Aviation Meteorology question bank with structured practice and mock-test tools.
